About BR Heimat
BR Heimat is a German public radio station owned and run by Bayerischer Rundfunk. It airs Bavarian folk music and documentaries on tradition and culture. It is a digital-only station that does not broadcast over FM. On February 2, 2015, the station replaced Bayern 2 Plus.
The BR Heimat station took over all folk music, brass, and amateur music programming from the digital radio station Bayern Plus, which now considers itself a pure hit program. Similarly, in 2016, all folk and brass music programs on Bayern 1 were ended and transferred to BR Heimat. Some shows are occasionally aired as repeats or in tandem with Bayern 2. Furthermore, daily accompanying periodicals with stories about Bavarian traditional culture are broadcast every day.
