Radio Essen

Radio Essen was formed in the 1980s as part of a larger effort to decentralize public broadcasting in Germany. It began broadcasting on April 1, 1992, after receiving a license from the State Media Authority of North Rhine-Westphalia (LfM). The station has grown and is important in the Ruhr region’s media scene.
